A song like «It’s More» would not exist if it wasn’t for a group of Tatar culture enthusiasts who obtained big metallic music records that are more than 100 years old from a local museum’s archives. One by one these melodies were carefully digitized. AYGYUL was given the opportunity to rethink and sample one of them. She chose a melody with a name that is translated as «Nightingale». Her family used to call her a nightingale, that’s why when she listened to the melody, she felt right away that this was the one.
Everything was created and recorded in AYGYUL’s home studio during self-isolation and ongoing travel restrictions. She missed her family in Tatarstan and the city she grew up in which inspired her to create this very song. Together with the lyricist Pati Avish, AYGYUL decided to combine two languages. The Tatar phrase that’s repeated over and over again «Oçıp kitmä» (translates to «Don’t fly away») she’s dedicating to her beloved.
This song is a fusion of cultures: Tatar folk music with completely new and authentic electro-pop beats.
